defibrillator

DSCF2535

The picture shows our headteacher, Mrs Collicott, and the sports councillors from each class with our newly installed defibrillator in May 2018.

The sports councillors organised a sponsored walk - which altogether raised £3,000 - to fund the installation of the defibrillator at school.  Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are vital tools that give a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

Heart Start Scheme co-ordinator Dr Nick Young was recently invited to talk to pupils at the school.

Headteacher Peta Collicott said: “The presentation by Nick to the pupils really inspired the children to raise the money and do something special and important for the village community.”

Dr Young said: “Many of the pupils tried CPR and the AED.  Many had questions and all were eager to learn about the device and to get one installed for their community.”
